Alternate Disc-Tractions: The Princess and the Frog Blu-ray review

The latest Disney animated flick to hit Blu-ray is also the company’s super proud return to hand-drawn animation and the wonderful world of the musical.
The Princess and the Frog offers a zesty blend of Cajun musical flavors, voice talent, humor, creepy voodoo and animation that you’ll wonder where the company has been for the last few years.

Funko releasing Sonic bobblehead figure May 2010
Funko today (March 12, 2010) announced that it will be releasing a Sonic the Hedgehog Wacky Wobbler (aka bobblehead toys). It will sell for $6.25 and will be available May 4, 2010 (SKU 830395021034).
The cool thing about this is that Sonic’s head is large in proportion to the rest of this body. So, instead of looking goofy headed version, it looks pretty spot-on. Check it out…
Gamertell Preview: LEGO Universe first impressions

This massively-multiplayer online game includes customizable LEGO avatars and, so far, most of the elements you’d expect from any online role-playing game (except leveling up).
Here’s a bullet-point list of the game’s features and my observations base on the first day of the closed beta. Also check out the LEGO Universe Photo Gallery of screen shots.
Alternate Disc-Tractions: 2012 Blu-ray review
You’ve got two more years, buddy, because the world is going to end in 2012. No, really. Everyone says so.
In the science fiction disaster movie, 2012, the entire planet is in danger thanks to a massive neutrino burst warming the Earth’s core. And guess when it’s all going to go to pot? (Hint: Read the @#$%! name of the movie.)
Explosions, volcanoes, fireballs hurling from the sky, massive earthquakes, outrunning explosions, ginormous tidal waves, mass hysteria, dogs and cats living together, it’s all in here. But is it worth a dime?
Famous Gamer: Melissa Joan Hart
I interviewed Melissa Joan Hart a few month ago when she was still getting ready for Dancing with the Stars (she was eventually given the fancy dance boot late October 2009). Naturally, I had to ask if she played video games.
In our talking about things that she geeks out about, she mentioned two iPhone (and iPod Touch) games: Flight Controller and Uni Sudoku...
Gamertell Review: Polk Audio’s HitMaster gaming stage monitor

Polk Audio wants to help add even more realism to your grand at-home jam illusion with its HitMaster stage monitor (those boxy speakers you see in front of each musician on stage at live performances or being smashed by archive footage of The Who).

Gamertell Interview: Polk Audio’s Mark Suskind talks about the HitMaster monitor

Gamertell recently spoke with Mark Suskind, Polk Audio’s Vice President of Product Line Management about the company’s new HitMaster stage style audio monitor.
The HitMaster is being marketed as a gaming accessory that will add an extra element of realism to music games including Guitar Hero and Rock Band.
Essentially a complex speaker system in one box, the HitMaster is built much like those floor monitors musicians use to monitor their performance on stage.
“There’s been something like 45 million copies of Rock Band and Guitar Hero games sold… and most people are using the progressively poor quality flat-screen sound or poor PC audio,” said Suskind. “We wanted to let people have the total experience when playing these games and feel like you are on stage. This helps create that experience.”
Alternate Disc-Tractions: Ponyo on Blu-ray, DVD
Miayazaki’s films can arguably be described as a bit too weird for American audiences to accept, lacking a clear, super-hero style main character and, instead focusing on normal people in not-so-normal circumstances. Most times he exudes a mood more than a clear, linear story in his films, though this may be one of the most linear of his productions (thanks to the film’s literary inspiration).
Some elements in Ponyo may not immediately endear older American viewers but the overall story will prove entertaining to its true target: very young viewers.
